I am honoured to serve as volunteer Chair of the Greater Burnside Business Association (GBBA).
The GBBA, through its board, committees and volunteers, work hard to support businesses of all sizes and their employees from the shores of the Basin throughout Burnside, the City of Lakes Business Park and Dartmouth Crossing. I work in Burnside as an owner of several businesses and understand first hand the issues we face. I became a member of the GBBA for the simple reason that I believe those of us working in Burnside need to have a voice for current infrastructure maintenance, service improvements along with future development and infrastructure. Businesses in Greater Burnside pay in excess of $28 million in property taxes and are a key driver of HRM’s economy.
These are truly exciting times in Greater Burnside. Development continues to happen at a record pace. We have a role to play in the development of the Atlantic Gateway initiative with enhanced warehouse and shipping infrastructure. The design phase for the long awaited Burnside Expressway is set to begin this year. We are participating in the Functional Plan (an HRM study as to how to best develop the Park for the future) and we are advocating for increased public transportation due to increased environmental concerns and rising transportation costs.
Send us your email address and we will keep you up to date on public meetings and the issues we are facing. (admin@greaterburnside.com)
Please take the time to join our Association and help grow your Greater Burnside into a Park that best meets our needs for the future – your voice is needed.
I look forward to meeting you in the future.
