With the federal budget scheduled for March 19, 2019, Amy G. Gibson Saab of BoyneClarke LLP and Earl MacLeod of MNP LLP will review the budget announcements that could impact your business. We will also discuss other recent tax changes in light of the new updates and provide some tips on common tax-saving strategies.
Amy is a lawyer at BoyneClarke LLP in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where she is a member of the Business Law team. She focuses her practice on tax issues for her business clients including incorporations, reorganizations, acquisitions, succession planning, trusts and estate planning.
Amy was born and raised in New Germany, Nova Scotia, and now shares her home in Halifax with her husband and two children. Since her admission to the bar, she has continued her training by completing Parts I and II and III of the In-Depth Tax Course offered by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (formerly The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants) and recently completed the advanced course on In-Depth Tax Issues for the Owner Managed Business.
Earl MacLeod, CPA, CA, is a Partner and Business Advisor with MNP in Halifax. Earl draws on more than 20 years of experience to deliver tax
advice and solutions to owner-managed businesses in a wide range of industries, with the goal of helping them manage their operations while
minimizing tax liabilities.
Earl’s services include helping with planning and compliance matters related to corporate, personal and trust income tax returns as well as assisting with U.S. tax compliance.
After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University in 1995, Earl became a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA),
qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1998. He has completed CPA Canada’s In-depth Taxation Course. Earl is a member of the Canadian Tax
Foundation and the Greater Burnside Business Association and has sat on several boards, including the Family Business Association Atlantic and Family Enterprise Xchange.
